GET INVOLVED

There are lots of opportunities to get involved in Cabinet initiatives and support the overall goals of the group. Maybe you’re interested specifically in a cabinet event? Or perhaps you’re looking for jointly-sponsored activities with the chapters? The bottom line is young CPAs can have a big presence in all association activities, and at all levels. See just how below:

APPLY
to be on the cabinet. Submit your
application to Cabinet member Michelle Davis, or contact the Cabinet’s staff liaison, Sonya Guthrie. Applications are due October 15, and final selections will be made by December 31.

Students, Join Us! We’re now accepting applications for the student liaison position. The Cabinet wants to hear from students like you. Are you 35 or under? Will you be a college student during the term, 5/1/12–4/30/13? If so, check out the application. Applications are due October 15, and a final selection will be made by December 31.

MEET
other young CPAs in small group settings at our young CPA socials. Go bowling, race go carts, play board games, hang out, and most of all make lasting relationships. Like to socialize? Help us plan an event in your area. Contact
Ben Murdock to learn more.

SIGN-UP
for the Emerging Leaders Conference, sponsored by the Young CPA Cabinet. The Conference gives you the opportunity to hone your leadership and technical skills along-side professionals at a similar stage in their careers. To find out more about the conference, click here.

CHECK OUT
your local chapter or one of our committees. Chapters and committees give you the opportunity to represent young CPAs in your field and network with professionals of all experience levels. NCACPA’s 11 regional chapters are an integral part of the association and facilitate networking and leadership development for members around the state. There are over 15 committees, task forces, and advisory groups that allow you to serve as an important liaison with other professions and the general public. If you would like to volunteer to be on your local chapter board, contact
Jennifer Rowell, or if you would like to know more about events in your area, click here. For more information on our committees, click here.

IMPACT
your community locally and statewide. The Young CPA Cabinet believes in actively making a difference and sponsors events to get you engaged. Below are some of the ways in which you can serve our communities.

  • Financial Literacy – Our young CPAs are educating Americans to manage their finances through every stage of life. Using resources developed by the AICPA and our own NCACPA Financial Literacy Council, young CPAs have spoken with all ages on basic financial skills and continue to look for opportunities to speak about financial literacy.
  • Student Recruitment – Young CPAs mentor students interested in becoming CPAs, are involved in Beta Alpha Psi events, and speak with schools about the benefits of becoming a CPA.
  • Other Local Initiatives – Young CPAs work with local food drives and organized food at food banks. They also help build affordable, quality homes for families in need through Habitat for Humanity.

To volunteer for any of the above initiatives, contact John Mollohan.
